Resting Polar Bear
Churchill, Manitoba, Canada
Here a polar bear rests, undoubtedly dreaming of seals. What looks like clouds over his head is in fact ice on Hudson Bay. Although thicker than in the “Scouting Polar Bear” image taken just two days before, that ice is not yet enough to carry him north. Less than two weeks later, however, the bears would abandon Churchill for the year.
