Photographers are typically the second largest group at art festivals, behind only jewelers.

so one might think Nancy’s odds of an award for our category were much higher than normal. Nonetheless, First Place in Photography went to Michael Mandell of Pembroke Pines.

Interestingly, we’ve both participated in Stuart’s ArtsFest the last few years, and have alternately won 1st Place in Photography there (for our history at Stuart, see Nancy Receives 3rd Place Photography Award In Stuart.

This year, the Best In Show winner was also a photographer (which is also quite rare): Terrance Thompson, also of Pembroke Pines.

I thought now would be a good time to remind you what constitutes news. To paraphrase The News Manual, news must be timely, it must be true (although this requirement has fallen out of favor of late), and it must be unusual. This article definitely meets all of those requirements. However, it does not qualify to be added to our list of awards. Another beautiful thing about this post is that there is more than one conclusion that one might draw from this information. I’ll leave that as an exercise for the reader.
