The Flow Of Life
Pearl Shoals Falls, Jiuzhaigou National Park, China
This image was taken while on Natural Habitat Adventures' Wild & Ancient China tour in late August. As it turns out, that is generally considered the best time of year to visit this park.
Jiuzhaigou (pronounced Joe-Gi (as in 'Gi'gantic)-Goaudio) National Park was established in 1982 in the Sichuan Province, east of Tibet in the mountainous southwestern region of China. There is plenty of Tibetan influence in the area. Pearl Shoals Falls is at an elevation of almost eight thousand feet. Although height estimates differ, Pearl Shoals Falls is the largest waterfall in the park with a length of about 535 feet and a height of between 70 and 130 feet.
Photographic details: Canon EOS 7D camera w/ EF 16-35 f/2.8 L USM autofocus lens set at 18mm. Flash was not used. At ISO 200, camera was set on shutter priority for 1/10 second, resulting in an aperture of f/22.
