This was on our last trip leading our Sea Scouts. It was a forty-one day camping trip from Miami, Florida to Vancouver Island, British Columbia. The picture was taken from the trail behind Wickaninnish Interpretive Center. Dedicated surfers like those shown will put up with all kinds of weather. That water could be forty degrees colder than the waters of Miami.

Photographic details: Canon EOS 20D camera w/ EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS USM lens set at 105mm. Flash was not used. Camera was set for f/16 on aperture priority with +1/3 stop exposure compensation, resulting in a shutter speed of 1/4000 sec at ISO 400.
